O'Briant June 13, 2000 Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday 16-Jun-2000 at the Anadarko Presbyterian Church for Walter E. O'Briant, 90, of Anadarko, who died 13-Jun-2000 in Anadarko. Officiating at the service was Jack Eissel. Burial was in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Chapel of Anadarko. O'Briant was born 18-Dec-1909 in Hutchinson, Kansas to David and Gertrude (England) O'Briant. He married the former Grayce Hutchins 05-Apr-1953 in Oklahoma City, Ok. He married the former Bonnie D. Williams in 1979. He married Reba Stowe 03-Jun-1990. He moved with his family to Oklahoma in 1911. After attending Fern rural school and graduating from Binger High School, he moved to Anadarko 01-Jan-1929 to attend Anadarko Business College, located at the corner of Broadway and First Street. Amos Ward was the owner and the math teacher. After completing Business College he was employed for the Caddo County registrar of deeds. He was then employed by for the Anadarko Cotton Oil from 1939 until September of 1942. He later was employed by Lacey-Pioneer Abstract Company prior to World War II. He served 39 months in the United States Army where he was assigned to the Classification Section of STAR Units under the Service Command in Dallas, Texas during World War II. He went into the wholesale candy and tobacco business as sole owner in 1946. Later in 1948 his brother and sister-in-law, Chester D. and Mable O'Briant, helped operate the business. He sold the business in 1972. He served as chairman of the Board of Directors of Oklahoma Association of Tobacco Distributors in 1970. He served as director of the Oklahoma Association of the Tobacco Distributors from 1971 until 1981. He was elected as a member of the board of directors of the Anadarko Bank and Trust Company in Anadarko in 1972. He served as director until 1999. He was a member of the Anadarko Masonic Lodge, and a 32nd Degree Mason. Preceding him in death were Grayce Hutchins O'Briant and Bonnie D. Williams O'Briant, his first and second wives; his parents; four brothers, Ralph Lauren O'Briant, Chester O'Briant, Carl O'Briant and Ray O'Briant; and one sister, Mildred Kirksey. Survivors include his wife, Reba Stowe O'Briant; three stepchildren, three step grandchildren, four step-greatgrandchildren, one brother, three sisters, one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and 16 nieces and nephews.
