Payne, 75, died 26-Apr-2001 at his home in Binger. Officiating will be the Rev. Jake Hicks and the Rev. Ron Nelson. Burial will be in the Gracemont Cemetery under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home of Binger. Payne was born 25-Jun-1925 in rural Gracemont to Roy and Berta (Stevens) Payne. He married the former Pat Sturm 13-Jul-1948 in Chickasha, Ok. He attended Gracemont High School. He served in the United States Army for three and one half years and was a paratrooper in the 17th Airborne during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purprle Heart. He was employed as a mail carrier for the Oklahoma City Post Office from 1948 until 1961. He and his wife moved to Binger in 1962 and operated Payne's 3-Way for 18 and one half years. He had been employed by the Gunter Peanut Co. of Binger for the past 10 years. He was a former mayor of Binger and was a current member of the Binger City Council. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11539. He was the current adjutant for the American Legion Post #201. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Welby Payne and Buck Payne; one sister, Othelle Bond; his father-in-law, Ed Sturm and one granddaughter, Angie Fletcher. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Sue and her husband, Kenneth Stone, and Janet and her husband, Troy Belcher, all of Oklahoma City, Ok.; one son, Monty Payne of Minco, Ok.; two granddaughters, Morgan Lankford of Oklahoma City, Ok. and Cassi Payne of Cogar, Ok.; one grandson, Trey Belcher and his wife, Cheri, of Moore, Ok.; one great-grandson, Treyce Belcher of Moore; one sister, Estelle Glidewell and her husband, Ed, of Anadarko, Ok.; his mother-in-law, Flossie Baker and her husband, Herbert, of Oklahoma City, Ok.; his brother-in-law, Percy Sturm and his wife, Rosa, of Meeker, Ok.; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, a host of friends and his best friend, his devoted dog, Bruno.
