All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== George Rice LITTLEROCK, Ark. - George Edward Rice, 64, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, May 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Sherman Eastland, chaplain of Northwest Texas Healthcare System, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Rice was born in Hinton, Okla. He served in the Army during the Korean War as an anti-aircraft artillery crewman. He moved to Amarillo in 1950. Mr. Rice served in the Army Reserve from 1956 until 1961, and graduated in 1961 from West Texas State College. He worked for the Department of Labor from 1961 until his retirement in 1995. He married Sally Brooks in 1957 at Amarillo. She died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Venable of Muskogee, Okla., and Leisa Lord of Albuquerque, N.M.; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a children's home of your choice.
