Radford J.W. Radford passed away at his home on north Broadway at 1 o'clock Wednesday after an illness which has confined him to his bed for the past 15 months. He suffered a stroke of paralysis in April, 1929 and has been in poor health since that time. Rev. I.R. Graham, pastor of the Methodist Church, will conduct the funeral service at the church Thursday at 1 o'clock, and burial will be made in the Carnegie Cemetery. Mr. Radford, even in his falling years, kept abreast of the times and took a great interest in politics and current events. He insisted on exercising his progative to vote when he had to be assisted to the polls. His greatest pride was in serving as captain of the local post of the United Confederate Veterans. He attended all of the national conventions until his health prevented. John Wesley Radford was born June 26, 1850 in Bullock county, Ala., died December 6, 1933, aged 83 years 5 months and 10 days. He was married to Mattie Amanda Curry July 15, 1874 at Buckhorn, Texas. To this union seven sons and four daughters were born, six of whom with the widow survive. They are Gordon of this place, Mrs. Belle Sappington, Sentinel; Mrs. Anna Johnson, Los Angeles; Gano and C.P., Tulsa; George, Little Rock, Ark. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Evans, Chickasha and Mrs. Minnie Witten of this place and one brother, George W. Radford of Rocky. All of the relatives are here for the funeral except C.P. and Mrs. Johnson. Mr. Radford moved with his family from Texas to the Cheyenne country and homesteaded near Cowden in 1895. He moved to Carnegie in 1919 and has made his home here since.
