Rankin, 79, a retired stockman and farmer of this area, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Methodist church of Elgin. Officiating at the service were Rev. Doyle Furr, Elgin Methodist pastor, and Rev. Cecil Whatley, pastor of the Richard Spur Baptist Church.Burial was in the Paradise Valley cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home, Lawton. Rankin was born in Whitesboro, Texas, January 8, 1880 and was married to Minnie Jackson, October 19, 1900 at Sherman, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1947. The Rankins came to Comanche county in 1906 and farmed in the Sterling vicinity until they moved to Paradise Valley in 1932. Rankin made his home in the Paradise Valley area until the time of his death. He is a member of the Christian church.
