All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Surnames: STANDRIDGE, ABERNATHY, GOSS, HICE, BRYANT, MORRIS Obituary of Calvin Tilden Standridge Calvin Tilden Standridge, oldest of seven children, was born march 13, 1878 at Mena, in Polk County, Arkansas. There he grew to manhood, and on June 19, 1904 he married Miss Edna Morris, also of Mena. To this union four children were born: Bessie V. Standridge who passed away in 1928 at the age of twenty-three, Ralph, Ted and Clyde. In 1907 Mr. Standridge moved his family from Mena, Arkansas to Anadarko, Oklahoma, where they lived until 1930, at which time the moved to Lookeba, Oklahoma to establish a home. Mr. Standridge and his wife went back to Black Springs, Arkansas for a few years, but they returned to Lookeba and were living here at the time of his death. A lover of outdoor life, Mr. Standridge raised livestock and enjoyed caring for them with his own hands. He liked to feed animals, and whether the animal was a cow, a chicken, a dog or a cat he enjoyed standing by and watching it eat. He was a good father, a kind, provident husband, and a thoughtful neighbor. Monday afternoon, April 14, a large Holstein bull charged Mr. Standridge, knocking him down and trampling him severely. At seven o'clock that evening he passed away in the Anadarko Hospital, at the age of seventy-four. Mr. Standridge is survived by his wife, Edna; three sons, Ralph of Boston, Mass., Ted and Clyde of Lookeba; five grandchildren, Wendy, Shirley, Roger and Linda of the Ralph Standridge family, and Sammy of the Ted Standridge family. Other survivors include a brother, James Standridge of Parsons, Kansas, and two sisters, Mrs. Argie Hardman also of Parsons, Kansas, and Mrs. Iva Wilson of Oklahoma City. Two brothers and one sister preceded Mr. Standridge in death.
