Graveside services were held at 10 am., Monday at the Chowchilla Cemetery with Rev. James A. Sabin officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jay's funeral Home of Madera, Calif. Born March 24, 1916 in Neosho, Mo., she was the daughter of Thomas Oscar and Minnie Isabella Martin Jay. She married Raymond Avril Skelton on Oct. 25, 1933 in Anadarko. Her life was spent growing up in Neosho and Caddo County. After her marriage and birth of three children, the family migrated in 1937 to Madera Co., Calif. in search of work during the depression. Three more children were born to them there. Minnie's life was her children. She was also a Genealogist and helped many in their research for their families. She left many family histories in her years of research. She was an organizing Charter member of the Colonial Dames XVII Century, Capt. James Davis Chapter, Ceries, Calif. She was of the Penecostal faith. Survivors include a daughter, Ivelyn Kay Skelton Blanton of McAlester, Ok. a son, Thomas Frank Skelton, Spokane, WA. a daughter, Evelyn Sell and three sons, Forrest Odell Skelton, Danny Ray Skelton, William Charles Skelton all of Chowchilla, Calif. Also, brother and sister-in-law, Charles Lester and Waunita Lou Hasha Jay, Watauga, Texas: 16 grandchildren with four living in McAlester, Ok., Gary L. Blanton, Lori A. Shumway, James A. Blanton and Brenda M. Rafael. Jeff Sell and Renee Matlock, both of Neosho, Mo. James Skelton, Raymond Skelton, Nicole Skelton, William C. Skelton II, Michael Skelton, Julie Bustamante, and Carrie Davis, all of Chowchilla, Calif. Debbie Gordon of Lindsey, OK. and Audra Wilson and Brian Skelton both of Spokane, Wash; and 30 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Forrest Skelton, Danny Skelton, Raymond Skelton, James Skelton, and Jimmy Bustamante. She was preceded in death by her half-brother Norvel Allen, her twin sister, Gracie Juanita Jay; her husband in 1971 and her parents. _______________________________________________________ Additional Information by Submitter: Ivelyn Kay Skelton Blanton.
