Tackett, 86, of Oney, died Friday, 13-Apr-2001 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Ok. Officiating was the Rev. Phil Cook, pastor and Curtis Reynolds. Burial was in the Albert-Oney Cemetery under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home of Binger. Tackett was born 02-Dec-1914 in Oney to Dave and Ethel (McDaniel) Tackett. He married the former Modenia Crow 03-Oct-1938 in Anadarko. They were married for 62 years. He graduated from Oney High School in 1935 and lived all of his life in Caddo county, living the majority of his life in the Oney area. He was a long-time supporter of the public school systems and served on the Oney School Board for 12 years. He was a member of the Oney Christian Church where he was the Sunday school superintendent for over 25 years. He farmed in the Oney community until his retirement, when he continued to help his son and grandson with the family farm until recent health problems prevented him from doing so. He will be remembered most for his hard work, honesty, a distinct laugh, and an unswerving loyalty to his church, family and community. He was proud to call Oney his home. Preceding him in death were his parents, two infant brothers and one brother, Alvin Tackett. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son and daughter-n-law, Jerry Don and Ann Tackett of Oney; three grandchildren, Lisa Tackett of Bethany, Natalie Lierle and her husband, Kyle, of Fort Cobb, Ok. and Dustin Tackett of Oney; two great grandchildren, Laken and Ashton Lierle, both of Fort Cobb; one brother, Lester Tackett of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and one sister, Lorraine Smith of Sickles. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/caddo/caddo.html
