Thompson, 76, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 1, at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Wethers, Officiating. Thompson was born Oct. 26, 1927, in Binger and died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Anadarko. Interment will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home, Anadarko ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 1 December 2003 CLARENCE D. THOMPSON Clarence D. Thompson was born October 26, 1927, in Binger, Oklahoma, to Erie A. and Mattie M. (Hunt) Thompson. He passed away from this life on Thursday, October 27, 2003, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years and one month. Clarence grew up in the Sickles community and graduated from Sickles High School in 1945. He received his bachelor's degree in science from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, and returned to get his master's degree in administration. He entered the United States Army in February 1946 and was stationed in Japan. He was discharged in 1947, and resumed his education. He and the former Jerry Hooker were married on June 30, 1949, in Anadarko. Clarence worked for the OSU Extension Service in Enid for 3 years. He resumed his teaching career at Sickles School in 1952, and in 1954 moved to Anadarko, where he taught junior high science and biology. He later became a counselor and was principal of the school for several years. He became Caddo County School Superintendent in 1982, and retired in 1986. He was a basketball official for the senior and junior high schools. Clarence served as a volunteer firefighter in Anadarko for many years until his health forced his retirement. He was a member of the OEA, the NEA, The Caddo County Administrator's Association, the Anadarko Masonic Lodge, and Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Tandon Lee Dunham. Survivors include his wife, Jerry of the Anadarko home; two daughters, Frieda K. Willis and husband Darrell of Rush Springs, Rita Dunham and husband Royce of Shattuck; 1 son, Chris Thompson and wife Jeannette of Verden; 5 grandchildren, Travis Dunham and wife Jan of Shattuck, Jim Dunham of Purcell, Tra Dunham and wife LaTisha of Fort Supply, Samantha Clanice Thompson and Stevie Kaye Thompson, both of Verden; 5 great grandchildren: 3 brothers, 1 sister, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many loving friends and thoughtful neighbors. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, at Bethel Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Ray Weathers, officiating.
