Tumlinson EDMOND Funeral for Fred L. Tumlinson, 91, Edmond, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Edmond, 305 E. Hurd. Mr. Tumlinson died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 in Lawton. Arrangements are under direction of Baggerley Funeral Home, Edmond. He was born in Fort Cobb and raised in Anadarko. After several occupations, he moved to California to work in the shipyards before World War II. He enlisted in the Seabees and took part in the invasions of Roi and Namur, Leyte, Luzon, Pelilu, Saipan and Tenian. He received the following medals for his war service: American Area (one star), Asiatic- Pacific (four stars), Philippines Liberation (two stars), World War II, Good Conduct and Expert Rifleman. After the war he worked in the oil industry. He and his family moved to Bogota, Colombia, where he worked for Anson Drilling Company. They later returned to Edmond. He worked in real estate before retiring. He served as commander of both the Edmond American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts and held various other offices in both organizations. He had also been a docent of the Edmond Historical Society and a volunteer for Hope Center. He was a long-time member of Edmond First United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and belonged to the Methodist Men. Survivors include two daughters, two grandchildren, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews and distant cousins.
