The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== Surnames: Winter, Jones, Nelson The Carnegie Herald, Wednesday, May 20, 1959 Mrs. Jim Winter Funeral Service Is Held Tuesday Services for Mrs. Jim Winter were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church with Rev. A.B. Grubb, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Carnegie cemetery. Mrs. Winter had been in ill health for some time, but had been critical the past several days. She was taken to Oklahoma City a week before she died early Sunday morning. She was born December 31, 1891, in Boone County, Arkansas, to Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Jones. She moved with her parents to Oklahoma in 1899. She lived north of Carnegie many years and in 1911 was married to Charles P. Nelson. To them two daughters were born. Mr. Nelson met with an accidental death in 1920. In 1928 she was married to J.H. Winter. Mrs. Winter was an active member of the Methodist church and held many places of responsibility. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ira Steinly, Durant, and Mrs. Robert Matthews, Midwest City; a step-daughter, Mrs. Roy White, Topeka, Kans.; two step-sons, Leon Winter, Chickasha, and Lewis Winter, Providence, R.I.; eight grandchildren and one great- grandson. Also surviving her are four brothers, F.B. and Lex Jones, Oklahoma City, Sterling Jones, Sulphur, and Cliff Jones, Carnegie; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie McCalla, Carnegie, and Mrs. Ethel Smith, Okmulgee; and many other relatives. --------------------------------------------------------------------
