'Skeeter' Young October 12, 2000 BINGER--Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, 14-Oct-2000 at the Binger Church of God for Virgil E. 'Skeeter' Young, 74, of Oklahoma City, Ok. who died 12-Oct-2000. Officiating was the Rev. James Jones of Oklahoma City, Ok. and the Rev. Ron Nelson of Binger. Burial was in the Binger cemetery under the direction of the Binger Funeral Home of Binger. Young was born 24-Jan-1926 in Binger to John William and Eva Young. He married the former Ruth Eline Hobbs 14-Dec-1946 in Van Buren grew up in Binger. He was a veteran of World War II when he served with the 511th Paratroopers in the United States Army. He was in the 11th Airborne Division, "B" company. He was one of the Liberators of Los Banos Civilian Internment Camp located south of Manilla, where he helped rescue many prisoners. He later became a member of the Virgil Mullennax Airborne Chapter of Oklahoma out of Stroud, Ok. After his marriage they moved to Oceanside, Calif. where they resided for 42 years. He was a franchise owner of a Midas Muffler Shop in Oceanside for 30 years. They moved back to Binger in 1989 where he was employed by Optiz and where they lived until he became ill. They moved to Oklahoma City, Ok. where he lived in the Norman Veterans Center. He was part of the Alzheimer's Research program. He was a member of the Moose Lodge while in California and an active member of the VFW and American Legion while living in Binger. Preceding him in death were his grandparents; his parents; one son, Johnny Young; one brother, Jimmy Dean Young and one sister, Lucille Young. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Donna Marie Young of Oklahoma City, Ok.; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gina Anderson of Beaumont, Texas; seven grandchildren--Richard Jones of Calif., Vanessa Marie Young of New York, Jessica Young of Calif., and Matthew, Nick, Dana and Windell Anderson of Texas; two great-grandchidren, Kaden and Seth Jones of Calif.; one sister, Marie Anderson of San Marcos, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
