Harvey's Best Man was Charles Roberts of Chickasha. Ushers were Thomas Eugene Garrett and Ivan Schurch. Candle lighters were Tommy Garrett and Marie Garrett. Harvey and Joetta first met on a blind date arranged by friends in 1954. During that time, Joetta was a junior as OCW, the Oklahoma College for Women, which is now the University of the Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Throughout her college years, she worked full-time at the Washita Theatre as a cashier. Harvey had just graduated from Central State, now known as the University of Central Oklahoma. After graduating from Central State, Harvey spent two summers in the forestry service in northern Idaho, in which he sent letters and made phone calls to Joetta from time to time. Upon returning, he went to work for the Chickasha Police Department as a dispatcher and active officer. After knowing each other for about a year, Harvey and Joetta became engaged close to Christmas in 1954. Six months later they were married on June 12, 1955. In August of 1955, Harvey and Joetta both became teachers at Amber School. Harvey began teaching the sixth grade while Joetta taught second and third grade. For 10 years since 1955, Harvey and Joetta taught at Amber School until Amber and Pocassett schools consolidated to form Amber-Pocasset Schools. From there, Harvey then taught 21 years at Am-Po High School, while Joetta taught 28 years, three years at Amber, three years private school kindergarten at First Baptist Church Chickasha and 22 years at Am- Po High School. Throughout her teaching career, she took about 10 years off-and-on to take care of and raise their three children. From 1956 to 1972 during the summer months, Harvey worked part-time at the Chickasha Police Department. After 31 years of teaching, Harvey retired in May of 1986. Four years later, Joetta retired in May of 1990. Harvey and Joetta were blessed with three wonderful children. Their children are Douglas and wife Saundra Davidson of Bartlesville, Karen and husband Jimmy Trotter of Chickasha, and Sharon Davidson, who passed away in 1983. They have four grandchildren: Michael and Bradon Winkler, and Christopher and Laura Davidson. Harvey and Joetta are residents of Pocasset, Oklahoma, and have been since 1974. They are also both proud members of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Pocasset.
