Age 69, Mustang, Services will be 1:30 PM Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Mayer, Pastor, St. John Lutheran Church, officiating. Mrs. Avery died Tuesday at her residence. Burial will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. She was born on November 7, 1935 in Moorefield, West Virginia to Alvin and Lulu Edith Nei (Helmick) Smith. She married MSG (Retired) Thomas V. Avery on September 3, 1955 in Johnston, Rhode Island. He died on October 8, 1993. Mrs. Avery was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. Survivors include four children, Thomas V. Avery, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Mustang; Karen Shackelford of Modesto, California; Michael Avery and his wife, Sandy, of Hampton, Virginia; and Mark Avery of Bend, Oregon; eight grandchildren, one great grandson, four brothers and two sisters. Her parents, husband, a brother, Bud, and a sister preceded her in death.
