All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Gertrude Atkinson Gertrude "Trudy'' Atkinson, 79, of Amarillo and formerly of Littlefield, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Chester O'Brien, retired Baptist minister, and Dr. Charles Price, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Littlefield Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Cain, her son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. Mrs. Atkinson was born in Littlefield. She graduated from high school at Glendale, Calif., and received a degree from Glendale Junior College. She married Dr. H. Strauss Atkinson in 1936 at El Reno, Okla. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lynn Caine of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mayla Ward of Dumas; a sister, Kathryn Pierce of Olton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the parlor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, and at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity.
