Curtis, 94, passed from this life on January 2, 2003. He was born on September 25, 1908, in Britton, Texas, to H.W. and Martha Jane Curtis, the youngest of their 3 children. He grew up on the family farm in Mustang and graduated from Central High School in 1928. He then graduated from the Williams Institute in Kansas City in June of 1930. He worked as a funeral director and embalmer in Oklahoma City, Shawnee and Norman before owning his own funeral homes in Cherokee and Hooker. He retired as Executive Secretary of the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and Siloam Masonic Lodge #276 of Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, S. J. Curtis of Denver; a sister, Etta Oliver Hinton of Altus, his wife of 57 years, Loma Wells Curtis; and his son, Ronald Joe Curtis of Mustang. He is survived by his wife, Eloise, of the home; a daughter, Lynda Peck and husband, Jimmy of Oklahoma City (formerly of Woodward); daughter-in law, Jean Curtis of Mustang; stepson, Dan Miller and wife, Cleo of Savannah, TN; 4 brothers-in-law, 6 sisters-in-law; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandsons; 3 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorials be made to Northwest Baptist Church. Friends may call from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Saturday and Sunday at Smith & Kernke, 1401 NW 23rd. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2003, at Northwest Baptist Church, N.W. 23rd & Drexel, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Memorial Road and Kelley.
