Carter of Yukon will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the Bethany Church of God. Brother Tom Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Resurrection Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, El Reno, OK. John N. Carter died on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Deaconess Hospital. He was born February 20, 1918, in El Reno, to John and Juanita (Tomlinson) Carter. He grew up in El Reno and was a graduate of El Reno High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #473 of Oklahoma City, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was retired from the Federal Prison System at El Reno. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karla Janette Carter, wife Florene Turner Carter, and a brother Burch Carter. He is survived by 3 sons: John Kent Carter & wife Delrene of Norman, OK, David E. Carter & wife Nita S. of Bethany, OK, Dennis E. Carter & wife Barbara of Piedmont, OK; 2 daughters: Terry L. Gentile & husband Patrick A. of Modesto, CA, Paula Annette LeMay & husband Bill of Pauls Valley, OK, 1 brother David D. Carter & wife Jeanne of Lynchburg, VA, 2 sisters Mrs. Helen Hawkins of Bethany, OK, Mrs. Ruth Ann Wallace & husband Glen K. of Oklahoma City, OK, 11 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. The family has suggested memorials be made to: Bethany Christian Academy, 6719 NW 23rd Bethany, OK 73008, New Life Christian Academy, 1429 N. Rockwell Bethany, OK 73008.
