Please don't cry for me. Yes I left too soon, yes my life was cut way too short by the cruel disease of cancer and yes, I still had things I wanted to do. But you all know where I am right now and if there is any comfort in this terrible ordeal, it's that I am with God and all my friends and family that have gone before me. Mom would never have written down anything about herself to say to all of you, but we wanted you to know what we thought of her. Our mom was a very special woman with great strength and character. She had such a loving heart and would do anything asked of her. She cared most deeply for the underdog and tried her best to take care of everything and everyone. She was a good wife, a good mom, a good friend, but most importantly a good Christian woman. She had her beliefs and stuck to them no matter what anyone said. She was also a very good secret keeper. She and our dad who were married for 45 years raised the 4 of us: Mitch, Terry, Lisa and Chad (and half a dozen others), was a mother to their spouses and the best granny in the world. Her front door was never closed for a child in need, she more or less had a revolving door for whomever happened to enter. Mom gave her heart and soul to working for the Lord. Whether it was helping to lead someone to Christ, singing in the choir, volunteering for Vacation Bible School, cooking up special Sunday dinners, organizing the Valentine Banquet or the Mother/Daughter Tea, she had a knack for getting things done. Her most fun and favorite job was cooking at Falls Creek. She enjoyed this job so much and looked forward to it every year (probably so she could play a trick on the preacher, you know, kool aid in the shower, short-sheeting the bed). She was also a Den Mother for her boy's Cub Scouts troop and a Camp Fire Leader. She took so much joy from being around kids, she said it kept her young. Kids of all ages loved to be around her as well, most of the time they would hang out with her instead of hanging out with us kids. She was loved by so many. She held many jobs in her 66 years but the one most rewarding was being a bookkeeper for Agnew Avenue Baptist Church. She took her job very seriously and did a great job. She will be most remembered for her fun and outgoing nature. She loved sports and played basketball in high school. She was very good at softball which she played well in to her fifties and was even voted Most Valuable Player by her teammates. She was also a very good wrestler which she practiced with every kid that came through the door. Most of all she was FUN. She loved to play tricks on people. She loved to scare people and she loved to laugh. She wasn't very good at telling jokes but she tried nonetheless. She made the act of silliness something to be cherished. She also loved to shop and eat Mexican food especially on cold, rainy days. Oh, and she LOVED to dance (sorry mom, but they have to know). She could cut a rug with the best of them. The best part was that when she danced, SHE DANCED. She didn't even need a partner, she danced in the kitchen, in the living room, in the bedroom, where ever there was music with a really good beat, there was mom. The best part was learning to dance from her, she was a great teacher. She also made the best roast in the world, or at least we thought so and her Mexican chicken wasn't bad either. We hate that mom is gone, we had so many plans and things we were going to do and we hate that cancer took away who she was. We know she would never have wanted her life to end the way it has because she thought, as we all did, that she would live forever. We know she thought she would get around to decorating her house, wrestle and play tricks on her grandkids, see Chelsie get married (and try to tell her what kind of wedding to have), travel with dad (even if it was only to Texas), and live to be an old woman (which she would never admit to). But unfortunately, it wasn't up to her or us. God has a plan for her and evidently he needs an angel to get things done or someone to organize a softball team. We all will miss her terribly. She was one of a kind. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Andrew Davis, four children and their spouses, Mitch and Pam Davis, Terry and Laurie Davis, Lisa and Lee Wills, Chad and Sherri Davis, five grandchildren, Chelsie Davis, Andrea and Jacob Davis, Sam Wills and Kaifffftlyn Davis. Three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Tony and Joyce Sullivan, Buddy and Diane Sullivan and Jack and Joyce Sullivan. Some very special friends and relatives, Ann Barnett, Vi Walker, Anna Mount, Jackie Bingham, Shirley Terry, Diane Richards, Shannon Sullivan, Kevin Thomasson and David Greenwalt, many nieces and nephews and brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law. A very special thank you to everyone that came in and helped mom and dad during her final days. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Arlie and Eva Sullivan, sisters Katy Martin and Dorothy Trantham brothers Mike Sullivan and Pat Sullivan. One final thought that we know mom would want you to carry with you, please don't put off anything that you want to do, do it now. Hug your kids, tell those you love that you love them, go on that trip you've been dreaming about and for goodness sakes, get your decorating done and make sure that you clean out those drawers and closets because you never know who will be going through them. Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Knob Hill Baptist Church, Oklahoma City with interment following in Mustang Cemetery under the direction of McNeils Mustang Funeral Service.
