Betty was born June 3, 1935 in Duncan, OK to Myrtle Georgia Allen and Charlie D. Dennard. She attended 12 years of school in Duncan and graduated with the Duncan High School Class of 1953. Betty married her true love, Donald D. King of Madill, OK on June 23, 1955. Together they raised three children, Joni, Ramona and Jeffrey. Betty had many talents and volunteered support to youth organizations including the Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and PTA. She was secretary of the Mustang Band Booster Club, taught Sunday School for many years and named the Burns Flat Town Park. Betty was an avid genealogist and enjoyed researching family history at the Oklahoma Historical Society. She was a member of the Colonial Order of the Crown, National Society of Magna Charta Dames, Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of 1812, First Families of the Twin Territories and America's First Families. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Jimmie, Dowell, Ray and Marvin Dennard. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, one brother Donald of Duncan and her three children: Joni Elaine King of Mustang, Ramona and Andy Taylor of Oklahoma City and Jeffrey and Debbie King of Bixby, OK. Also by six grandchildren Joshua Jarrell, Sarah Jarrell Knapp, Lauren King, Clay Taylor, Sam Taylor and Ryan King. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, 525 W. Hwy. 152 in Mustang (405 376-1616) with burial following at 3:00pm in the Duncan Cemetery, Duncan, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe sent to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13 Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104-9930 to support Lupus Research. Mom, you are dearly loved and will be lovingly missed.
