All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Daily Oklahoman 4 Aug 2002 Lilly, Russel Herman Russel Herman Lilly, 85 years old, passed away on August 1, 2002, at his home. He was born on September 16, 1916 in Calumet, Oklahoma to William H. & Vida (Day) Lilly. Russel served his country in World War II with the 645th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic achievement on Anzio beachhead as a member of the Forty-fifth division. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Upon arriving back in the states, Russel married Dorothy E. Towler on July 5, 1945. They enjoyed traveling together over the years, and had visited all Fifty States. Russel was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his sister, Florence Butler of Oklahoma City and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his wife, Dorothy and two children, Donna & Alan. There will be a family visitation at the Mercer-Adams Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to The Center of Family Love, P.O. Box 245, Okarche, OK 73762. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5th at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
