M. PEI EASON Leonard, 83, an architect whose firm worked on the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and the United States Holocaust Museum, died of pneumonia Nov. 13 in Carmel. Leonard was a founding partner of I. M. Pei & Partners, now known as Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. For more than 30 years, he hired and managed architects who worked worldwide for the Manhattan firm. In the time that he was its managing partner, the firm worked on about 200 assignments, including the John Hancock Tower in Boston, Raffles City in Singapore, the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong and the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Born in El Reno, Okla., Leonard earned a degree in architecture from what is now Oklahoma State University. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and worked with several architects in New York before founding the firm with I. M. Pei in the mid-1950s.
