Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, and Dr. Winfred Moore, pastor emeritus, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in El Reno, Okla., with the Rev. Fred Williams officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Nelson was born in Fairbury, Neb. She attended El Reno Junior College and then served as secretary to the president of the college. She later served as secretary to the president of the El Reno Chamber of Commerce. In 1952, she married D.G. "Bill" Nelson who was Canadian County Agriculture Extension Agent as well as staff member at Oklahoma State University. After marriage, she became secretary to the president of the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. She served as secretary to the president of Oklahoma State University Alumni and Placement Bureau before moving to Amarillo in 1957. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi where she was elected Queen. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she was especially active with the GA's and W.M.U. She assisted her husband in founding the Texas Grain Sorgum Association and later the Texas Wheat Producers' Association. She was a beloved wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a faithful friend to many. She was preceded in death by a son, Rene'. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Vikki Holcomb and husband, Wesley, of the Woodlands and Tanya Frech of Plano; a sister, Nancy Williams of El Reno; and three grandchildren, Nelson, Allison and Courtney. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
