Petty YUKON — Funeral for former Walters resident Scott S. Petty, 43, Yukon, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Walters First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Nickel officiating. Mr. Petty died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Yukon. Burial will be at Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters. He was born Oct. 23, 1959, in Fort Benning, Ga., and grew up in Walters. He graduated from high school in 1977. He attended Oklahoma University for three years before beginning a 20-year career with AT&T and Lucent Industries. He attended classes at UCO for the past year, and planned to teach high school history. He was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Delores and Jimmy Ray Fletcher, Walters; his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Bill Tharp, Yukon; three nephews: Conner, Camden and Christian Tharp, all of Yukon; a stepbrother and sister-in-law, Kent and Debbie, Fletcher; a stepsister and brother-in-law, Amy and Kelly Whitfield, Weatherford, Texas; five stepnieces and nephews: Ryan, Erin, Luke, Paige and Claire; and other relatives and friends.
