Ankney, of El Reno, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born to his parents, David N. and Lela A. (Hopkins) Ankney, on March 15, 1938 in El Reno. Glen grew up in the Calumet area and attended Lone Valley Rural School. He was a graduate of El Reno High School and had attended El Reno Junior College. Glen served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He had worked at Western Electric in Oklahoma City, taught Ground and Flight School at El Reno Junior College for several years, and owned and operated Kiddie Land Park at Legion Park, which developed into a business enterprise that extended through 5 states, including, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. For the past 10 years Glen worked as an Insurance Agent with Combined Insurance Company. Glen grew up attending Red Rock United Methodist Church south of Calumet. He was currently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he attended the Crusader Sunday School Class. Glen served as a Stephen's Ministry Leader for 10 years and was also a very active part of the Emmaus Community. Survivors include his wife, Patsy (Fees) Ankney, of the home; son, Tim Ankney and his wife, Bonita, of Yukon; 2 daughters, Tam Shrum and her husband, Danny, and Tonya Mabry, all of El Reno: his parents, David N. and Lela A. (Hopkins) Ankney of El Reno; his sister, Claretta Ruggiero, and her husband, Frank, of Eagan, MN; Glen was a very special grandfather to his 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 25th, at Wesley United Methodist Church. Dr. Allen Schneider, Dr. Burrel McNaught and Rev. David Bates will officiate. Burial will be in El Reno Cemetery with Military Honors. The family suggests memorials be made to either Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 101 S. Barker, El Reno, OK 73036, or to the American Cancer Society, 4323 NW 63rd, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
