"Rowdy" Sanger The Norman Transcript J. S. "Rowdy" Sanger, 82, of Norman, Oklahoma died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at the Norman Veterans Center in Norman. Family will be available to meet family and friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., on Friday, March 30, 2007, at Havenbrook Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church of Norman with Reverend Randy Wade officiating. Private Burial will be held at Yukon Cemetery in Yukon, Oklahoma. Honorary pallbearers will be W.R. Payne, Admiral William J. Crowe, Jr., Dr. V. William Wood, George M. Bradfield, E. Tod Sanger, Bryan T. Gordon, S. Trent Sanger, Boone J. Ellis II, Eddy Poole, Ralph Myers and Dorman Barrett. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Rowdy was born in Yukon, Oklahoma on January 8, 1925, to Dr. Edwin Ewing and Alta Bradfield Sanger. He grew up in Yukon and graduated from Yukon High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving in W. W. II. He was honorably discharged and recalled to serve in the Korean Conflict. Rowdy was a forest ranger at Yosemite National Park during the summers while attending O.U. He graduated from O.U. in 1950, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He married Mollyann Burrell on April 4, 1953, in San Diego, California. He was a General Agent for Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance in Tulsa for many years. Rowdy moved to Norman in August of 2000, from Tulsa. He loved people, had a wonderful sense of humor and was a family person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid O.U. Fan, especially enjoying football and loved traveling and playing cards. Rowdy was a member of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church of Norman. He was a loving father and grandfather. Rowdy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. Edwin Sanger, of Oklahoma City, OK. He is survived by three daughters, Sarah S. Sanger, of Norman, OK, Sandra S. Ellis, of Oklahoma City, OK and Dana D. Gordon, and husband, Chris, of Oklahoma City, OK; son, E. Tod Sanger and wife, Diane , of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, George Bradfield, of Norman, OK; sister, Dr. Sunshine Myers, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Bryan T. Gordon, Paige Gordon, Callie Gordon, Brittany Sanger, Trent Sanger, Christina Ellis and Boone Ellis, II. and many other loving family members.
