All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Wilburn, Henry Lay (Wib) Henry (Wib) Lay, age 85, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 at an Oklahoma City hospital after a short iIllness. He was born June 16, 1917 in Marshall, Arkansas (Searcy Co.) to Anderson and Emma Clementine Gilliam Lay. He moved to Caddo, Oklahoma with his family as a baby and grew up there and later in Yukon. He was a graduate of Yukon High School where he was a star football player and captain of his senior team. He attended Blackwood Business College where he majored in bookkeeping and accounting. He worked at Dobry Mills in Yukon before moving to California in the early 40's. While in California he worked for the Southern Railway as conductor and motorman as well as being a real estate broker. After moving back to the Yukon area he founded A&A Building Materials Company as well as being active in W.H. Lay Real Estate until retiring in 1980. He was a Baptist and very active at Mustang Senior Citizens Center, where he was twice named 'Father of the Year'. His keen wit, gentle spirit, and story telling ability will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Violet of the home, three sons Richard Henry Lay and wife Eden of Earlsboro, Lowell Thomas Lay and wife Sandy of Oklahoma City, Harry Daniel Lay of Mustang, and one daughter Judy Toney Gray and husband Irmon of Oklahoma City. Also by sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, four brothers Roy Chester Lay of Riverside, Ca., Alvie Lay of Oklahoma City, Raymond Lay and David Lay both of Yukon, three sisters Helen Horne of Ashflat, Ark., Betty Ross of Oklahoma City and Joan Carr of Enid. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Troy and one sister Hazel. Services will be held at 10AM on Wednesday April 30, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Mustang with interment following in Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, Oklahoma under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, OK.
