Rev. John Black, minister of the church, officiated. Interment was in the Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home. He was born on June 22, 1920 in Healdton, where he has lived all of his life except for 5 years spent in the U.S. Army where he served in Italy and North Africa. He married Francis Stevens on March 17, 1947, at Gainesville, Tex. He was a driller in the oilfield. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and V.F.W. He passed away in an Ardmore hospital of February 13, 1978 after a 2 year illness. He is survived by his wife, of the home: 1 daughter, Mrs. Charlene Brown of Mercede, Calif.: 2 sons, Joel C. of Ardmore and Danny of Healdton; 2 brothers, J.D. of Healdton and Freeman of Artesia, N.M.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Jimmie Upshaw of Moore and Mrs. Wanda Garrett of Tussy; also 3 grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Kana, Hester Blundell, Vernon Walker, Shelton Stewart, John robinson and Evert McLain.
