SHAMROCK - Oneta Barrett, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Church of Christ with Cottie Tarbet officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Barrett was born in Provence, Okla., and was raised in Lockney. She graduated from Lockney High School and West Texas State College. She also attended Abilene Christian College.
She had lived in Shamrock for many years where she was a teacher for the Shamrock Independent School District. She taught second grade and sixth grade for many years, having taught a total of 38 years in the Shamrock ISD. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Retired Teachers Association.
She married Price Conley Barrett in 1934 at Sayre, Okla. He died in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Mullican of Lubbock; two brothers, Leo Comer of Silverton and Lon Comer of Plainview; a sister, Lela Fore of Plainview; and three grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be to Shamrock Public Library or the Shamrock Cemetery Association.
