Bays, who was a teacher, scientist & inventor, and Lillian Speer Bays, a teacher and homemaker. He passed away peacefully the morning of March 6, 2003 following a brief illness caused by complications from gall bladder surgery. We are joyful that he believed in God and are certain he is with loved ones. Norman had three sisters, Leola, Lenna Mae, and Ila and one brother John Dale. Mae preceded him in death. Norman graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1939. During WW2 he served as an electrical engineer, achieving the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Army. In May of 1947 he married Ada Mae Purnell. Together they built a business which used his engineering talent. Bays Laboratory manufactured auto parts in OK City for over 50 years. Norman and Ada had three children: Donald in 1950, Walter in 1953 and Karen in 1968. Don has two children, Suzanne and Cheryl. Walter has a son, Arthur. Suzanne has two children, Rebekah and Jakob. His loving wife, Ada, passed away in 1998. We will gather to mourn, but also to celebrate the life of a loving and giving man who went out of his way to help others, and stands as a model of honesty for all of us who knew him. Services are at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 8 at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel Smith. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 6934 S.
