Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Baptist Temple, Grand Prairie. Burial: Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Baptist Temple, 1921 S.W. Third, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051. Walter was born April 30, 1920, in Ardmore, Okla., to Charlie and Mattie Matthew Beard. He was one of a kind. He loved his family with all of his being, but most of all he loved his God. He was a member of Baptist Temple for 46 years. He was an example for all men. He touched many lives and the world has lost a great man. Walter, we will miss your smile, your love for baseball, and your love of homecooked meals, but most of all, we will miss your loving hugs. We will miss you and we look forward to the day of seeing you again in heaven. Even though you are not with us in this world, we know you are smiling down on us. Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Betty Jo Beard; daughters and spouse, Linda and Rick Johnson of Grand Prairie and Janis and Stan Standridge of Arlington; son, Walter Steve Beard of Denton; grandchildren, Angela and Jason Ingram, Brandy and Alford Wood and Haley Ligon, Danica and Bobbie Gehmans and Breana and Lindel Bittick; great- grandchildren, Hollie, John Jay and Robert; sister, Lucille Monroe of Era; and numerous friends and extended family members.
