Submitted by: Allison Cozzi acozzi@cozzi.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joplin News Herald Dec. 26, 1929 Former Galena Man Killed in Crash Galena, KS, Dec. 26 -- The body of Otho Clingenpeel, 25 years old, of Ardmore, Okla., former Galena resident and son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Clingenpeel, 1603 Main Street here, who was killed at 6 o'clock Tuesday afternoon when the automobile in which he was riding collided with a large bus near Ardmore, will arrive here this afternoon. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body will arrive in Baxter Springs at 3 o'clock, where it will be received by the Clark Undertaking Company of this city. Clingenpeel was employed with the Amerada Petroleum Corporation at Ardmore. He and Superintendent Benedict of the company had been inspecting leases and were returning to Ardmore when the accident occurred, according to information received here. Benedict is in a hospital at Ardmore. His condition is not serious, how-..... Clingenpeel had been with the company at Ardmore for three years. He had resided here most of his life. Surviving besides his parents, are his widow, Mrs. Esther Clingenpeel at Ardmore, and three brothers, Floyd and Walter Clingenpeel of Galena, and Kenneth Clingenpeel of Treece.
