She married William "Bill" Chippeaux April 24, 1943. Maxine and Bill were married 62 years. As always, but especially for the last six months, Bill was devoted to Maxine and her care. Maxine was known to all as a gracious lady. Throughout her life and even at the age of 90, she never failed to acknowledge a kindness or to give one of her special chuckles. We shall miss her dear sweet nature. Maxine worked for Gulf Oil from 1947 to 1972 as secretary to the vice president of production then to the marketing director. Her first job was with Lone Star Gas in Wichita Falls from 1936 to 1942. She worked on a Marine air base on Eagle Mountain Lake from 1942 to 1943, helping build the naval base. Maxine and Bill moved to Roswell, N.M., where Maxine worked for the superintendent of schools from 1943 to 1944. They then moved to Seattle and Bill retired from the Army, where he was teaching in Boeing B-29 school. They moved back to Wichita Falls where Maxine worked for the USO. In 1946, they moved to Fort Worth, where she served on the chamber of commerce from 1946 to 1947. A special thanks with deep love and appreciation to Clara Gray, Sue Malone with Tomlison Hospice, the staff of Victoria's Place Assisted Living Center, and their many friends and neighbors. Survivors: Husband, William Chippeaux; brother, William Robert Babington; sister-in-law, Helen Babington; and a number of nieces and nephews. Published in the Star-Telegram on 9/18/2005.
