All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Shafter Cemetery--Shafter OK DeShane, John Junior John Junior DeShane July 14, 1922-July 17, 2007 Doughty-Calhoun- O'Meara Funeral Directors A Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Bakersfield on Saturday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. for John DeShane. John died in Bakersfield following a brief illness. Interment will follow at the Shafter Cemetery. John was born to John and Mary DeShane in Wilson, Oklahoma on July 14, 1922. He grew up in Anton, Texas and moved to California in 1941. He took great pride in having served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp 67th Squadron Engineering Section. He was a radio operator on a B-17 Bomber. It was while stationed in Edinburgh, Scotland that he met the love of his life, Jean McQueenie. After being discharged from the Air Corp, he worked a short time in Richmond, California before moving to Shafter. It was at this time Jean came from Scotland and the two were married. They made their home in Bakesfield before moving to Shafter. They were blessed with 51 years of marriage. he was employed by Sill Properties, Inc. for 50 years as a farm manager until he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to fish and work in his garden. John was an active member for many years in the Shafter/Wasco Elks Club. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Jean, two infant sons, brother Doyle, and sister Corine DeShane. He is survived by his son, Norman Dale DeShane and wife Patricia; sisters, Imogene Casto and Sharon Montoya; granddaughger, Briana and husband Matthew Starr; great-grandson, Andrew Thomas Starr; nephews, Larry Casto and Joe Montoya; uncle, Ray DeShane; and many other relatives. Pallbarers are Pete Rogers, Lucio Lopez, Sam Ghilarducci, Walter Ghilarducci, Pete Romanini and Tyler Tilbury. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
