Submitted by: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pioneer Healdton Woman Claimed by Death Funeral services were held in the East Healdton Church of Christ Sunday, at 3:00 p.m. for Mrs. Mollie Emberling, 88, pioneer resident of Healdton, who passed away at the family home Friday, following a lingering illness. Tom E. Smith, minister in the Church of Christ, conducted services, with burial at the Graham cemetery, under the direction of the Leslie Funeral Home of Wilson. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons. A large crowd of friends attended the rites. All of Mrs. Emberling's children were present at the service. Mrs. Mollie Emberling was born January 27, 1862 in Tennessee, and passed away at the family home in Healdton, October 29, 1950, at the age of 88 years. She was united in marriage to Darius M. Emberling, February 15, 1882, and to this union were born eight children. Mrs. Emberling became a member of the Church of Christ when quite young. She had lived in Healdton twenty-five years, where she had made many friends who regret her passing. Possessed of a kindly disposition, "Grandma" Emberling as she was better known, was loved by all who knew her. Surviving are the following children: George, Searchlight, Nevada, Jim and Banks Emberling, Healdton, Mrs. Callie Hodges, Hominy, Mrs. Lucy Woymon, Goodyear, Arizona, and Mrs. Bill (Edna) Shrader, Healdton, 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. A number of out of town relatives attended the service. October 26, 1950 in "The Healdton Herald" of Carter Co., Oklahoma Background information: Martha Francis Bryant Emberling was the daughter of John Summers Bryant and Callie Burrow who were married in Carroll Co., Tennessee. The family moved to Texas about 1876 and settled in Parker, Palo Pinto, and Stephens Counties. Mollie was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, William and Ernest.
