Submitted by: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fowler Rites Set Saturday Services for Mrs. Rebecca Jane Fowler, pioneer resident of the Healdton and Graham areas, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Healdton. Rev. Larry Wileman, pastor of the First Baptist Church at Graham, will officiate. She was born on January 2, 1871 in Salem, Missouri. She moved to the Healdton community in 1883 and has lived in the Healdton and Graham area since that time. She was married to George Nordman in 1885 and he passed away in 1915. She then married Henry Fowler who preceded her in death in 1946. Her survivors are 3 sons, Fred Nordman of West Fork, Ark., William (Bill) and Leo both of Healdton, one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Robinson of Duncan, 23 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Eleven children preceded her in death. Burial will be in the Graham Cemetery under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home. Printed 1968 in "The Healdton Herald" in Carter Co., Oklahoma. Background information: Rebecca's parents were Jesse W. Wadkins (1841-43, Hamilton Co., TN) and Susan McGehee (1843 MO); her siblings included brothers Thomas William (1863 Phelps Co., MO), Alexander C. (1867 Shannon Co., MO), Isaac (1868 Shannon Co.), Sterling Price (1871 MO), George Franklin (aka Green, 1879 Shannon Co.), Caswell Warren (1877 Shannon Co.), John David (1874 Shannon Co.), and Anvil C. (1880 Shannon Co.), and sister Nancy (1870 MO). The family moved to the Red River Valley in north Texas about 1882-83, then Chickasaw Nation about 1885. Jesse died 1917 and was buried in an unmarked location in the Graham cemetery; Susan died between 1900 and 1909 and was probably buried in the Frio cemetery near Fox. Becky's second husband was John "Jack" Petray; she married Henry Fowler after Jack died.
