All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memorial Park Cemetery--OKC OK James Allen (Jim) Hargrove departed this life quietly and peacefully at home on January 8, 2003 at the age of 78. Jim was born October 10, 1924 in Healdton, OK to James and Carolyn Hargrove. He served in the Marine Paratroopers Fifth Division during World War II and was a survivor of Iwo Jima. After his discharge he attended the University of Oklahoma on the GI Bill, graduating proudly with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1953. Jim was a resident and business man of Edmond since 1955. He owned and operated Jim's Pharmacy until he retired in 1989, and maintained his license even after his retirement. He always felt that pharmacy was more than a profession. He enjoyed helping people and was as dedicated to his customers as they were to him. They were never just a prescription to him. They were his friends. He was known for his integrity, business ethics and generous nature. For many years he sponsored little league teams and donated trophies to the league championship. He was a member of the First Christian Church since he was 17, and a one-time deacon of the First Christian Church of Edmond. Jim loved his family, music and chess. He was a Postal Chess Master and played regularly with his friends. His family was always nearest and dearest to his heart and his favorite times were when everyone could be together. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Bill and Charles. He is survived by his wife Susan, three children and their families: Belinda Foster and her husband Michael and daughter Rachel, James P. Hargrove and his wife Vicki, Charles Hargrove and his wife Janis and children Jennifer and Chad, his sister Ethylene McCartney, and his nephews Stephen McCartney, Stan McCartney. Jamie Hargrove and their families. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2003 at 12:00 p.m. at Baggerly Funeral Home, with a military Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
