"Marion" Harkins, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Heald United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Alanreed by Wright Funeral Home of Shamrock. Mr. Harkins was born in Ardmore, Okla., and had lived around McLean since 1955. He was an Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Harkins was a truck driver and a farmer. He was a member of the 11th Street Baptist Church in Shamrock and the Johnny Windom Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in McLean. He married Mable Oneta Graham in 1949 at Shamrock. Survivors include his wife; eight children, Judy Smith of Austin, James Harkins of Sherman, Janet McCracken of McLean, Nell Ray and Gale McGlaun, both of Amarillo, Linda Hilt of Coldwater, Kan., Brenda Dorrell of Sweetwater and Mike Harkins of Odessa; a sister, Vivian Lax of Lela; a brother, Raymond Harkins of Shamrock; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to Heald United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in McLean.
