Claud Williams officiating. Interment was in Lone Grove Cemetery in Lone Grove with Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson in charge of arrangements. Born July 1, 1936 in Lone Grove to Carter Waterman Kennedy and Dince Pierce Kennedy, he died Saturday, Oct. 1 at his home in Mill Creek. Mr. Kennedy was born and raised at Lone Grove and Springer attending school there and graduating from Springer High School. Shortly after, he joined the United States Army serving the majority of his duty in Italy. He was united in marriage to Dortha Louise Carlisle on October 1, 1961 in Healdton. After he left the Army he and Dortha moved to various communities in southern Oklahoma. He worked as a carpenter for RFD construction for the past 23 years. Roy was a deacon and Sunday School teacher of the Mill Creek First Baptist Church and had been a resident of Mill Creek the last four years. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Dince Pierce Kennedy, a son, Timothy Patrick Kennedy on May 12, 1990; two sisters, Nancy Cleo Kennedy and Letha Golden and six brothers, Jim Bob, Clifton, Bryant, Delbert, Bud and Joe Kennedy. Survivors include his wife, Dortha, of the home; one son, Roy Dalton Kennedy, Jr., Mill Creek; one sister, Edna Latham, Springer; three brothers, Willie "Bunk" Kennedy, Noble, J.L "Jack" Kennedy, Wilson, Carter "Junior" Kennedy, Springer and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Leon Sorrels, Dean Ross, Tom Vestal, Jeff Courtney, Larry Sloan and Randy Putman. Honorary bearers were Roy Dalton Kennedy, Jr., Bobby Hudgens, Tim Stinson and the Mill Creek First Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class.
