(Services To Be Held Thursday) (Final tribute to beloved woman to be paid at First Christian Church) All Ardmore was saddened today at the death of Mrs. Ewing C. London, wife of the Carter County Sheriff, which occurred this morning at a local Sanitarium. Mrs. London was suffering from influenza at the death of her mother, Mrs. James S. Alverson, April 7, and immediately after the funeral she was taken to the hospital for an operation occasioned by an acute attack of appendicitis. (Funeral Thursday) The funeral will be conducted from the First Christian Church, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. Clayton S. Brooks officiating. Pallbearers are Con Kiersey, Carl Holden, Cecil Crosby, Robert P. Short, Hale Dunn, and Ollie W. Anderton, all deputies in the Sheriff's office. The body will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery where of her mother was buried Easter Sunday. Harvey Bros. are in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. London was born Sept. 3, 1893 and lived in or around Ardmore practically all her life. She was Jewell Smith before she married Ewing C. London, July 31, 1919. (Identified With Civic Work) She was identified prominently in the Civic, Social and Church work of Ardmore. She was a former board member of the Y.W.C.A., and active in the First Christian Church. Her work with the Ryonis Club, Women's Civic organization of Ardmore, and her willingness to cooperate in any worthy project, endeared her to the memory of her friends. Besides her husband the surviving relatives are her stepfather, James S. Alverson, in whose home she lived from the time she was three years old until her marriage, and two brothers Don Smith of Ardmore, and Will Smith of Tampico, Mexico. Mrs. Joe Williford of County Line, is an Aunt and Mrs. Geneva Martin of Oklahoma City a cousin. In deference to the funeral of Mrs Ewing C. London, District and County Court will suspend Thursday, Court officials announced today. (Ryonis Pay Tribute) Respect to the memory of Mrs. Ewing C. London, who died this morning, was paid by Ryonis today. The club dispensed with it's usual meeting and adjourned out of respect to Mrs. London, who is the second member whom the Club has lost by death. A brief but impressive service recalled the faithful and helpful character of Mrs. London, who was ever interested in Civic affairs and always wholeheartedly behind and movement whether Civic or Charity, for the betterment of Ardmore. (Members Stand In Tribute) Mrs. John B. Dexter, President of Ryonis, and Mrs. Minnie Wall, member of the Board of Directors, paid tribute to the memory of Mrs. London, whose death is deeply lamented by the Club. Resolutions passed by the Board of Directors at their meeting this morning were introduced by Mrs. Dexter and Adopted, following which the club stood silently while Mrs. A.M. Hepler sang "Through Peace to Light" with Miss. Marguerite Noble at the piano. (Member Legion Auxiliary) Mrs. London was an active member of the Auxillary to the American Legion and at the time of her death she was Chairman of the unit's Activities Committee. She was at one time Secretary and had held various other offices.
