He went to be with his heavenly father on August 1, 2005. Richard spent most of his childhood in Texas, but moved back to Oklahoma and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1965. He attended Murray State College, East Central University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa where he received a Masters of Education as well as his Superintendent Certificate. He started his teaching career at Plainview where he was a football and wrestling coach. He was principal at Wilson High School and at Davis High School. He was superintendent at Haileyville and Milburn Schools and assistant superintendent at Dickson Schools. He also was an instructor for Murray State College at that time. At the time of his death he was superintendent at Nocona ISD in Texas. His areas of community involvement included membership and past president of The Davis Kiwanis Club. He was the Murray County Civil Defense Director. In the past he served as Sunday School teacher in the Youth Department of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lions Club and was the current Mayor of the City of Davis. He demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in his ability to work with parents, faculty, and students throughout the years. He belonged to many professional organizations throughout his career. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Fern, and the following children, Todd Eveland and his wife, Kristen, Norfolk, Va.; Kim Budish and husband, Brad, Gainesville, Texas; Richie McKee and wife, Brooke, Nocona, Texas; grandchildren Katelyn and Keegan Eveland and Shae Budish. Also surviving are his mother, Laverda McKee, Ardmore; brothers Gary McKee, Okmulgee and Hugh McKee, Ardmore as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He spent the last two years of his life in close proximity with his family who lived very close. He also spent those years being PaPa to the apple of his eye, Shae. Pallbearers will be Greg Avery, Brad Bolles, Eddie Glasgow, James Brasier, Ronnel Bell, Bill Holcomb, Robert Ulibarri and Norman Waters. Honorary bearers are Wayne Glasgow, Jim Clemons, Pete Byrd, Gary Fullerton, Tommy Webb, Andy Smith and Mickey Hoy. In lieu of flowers, scholarship funds are set up at Davis Landmark Bank and Nocona Legend Bank. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the First Baptist Church in Davis with Bro. Thomas Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hale's Fox Funeral Home. 1.
