All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Laurel Land Memorial Park--Ft Worth TX McLaughlin, Bruce Edward 1926 - 2005 Bruce Edward McLaughlin, 79, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at his home. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wedgwood Baptist Church, 5522 Whitman Ave., Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the building fund at Wedgwood Baptist Church. He was born April 15, 1926, in Ardmore, Okla., to Fred and Lola Tate McLaughlin. He was a retired Southern Baptist minister and served churches in Ardmore, Blanchard, Oklahoma City, Midwest City and Seminole, all in Oklahoma, and First Church of Crowley, for a total of 30 years. Bruce and Louise are members of Wedgwood Baptist Church. Bruce received his education in Ardmore public schools and Oklahoma Baptist University and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth. Bruce served in the Navy during World War II and married Louise in 1947. Bruce and Louise celebrated their 58th anniversary July 13, 2005. While in the Navy, he served abord the USS Elkhart (APA-80). He received the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon, and left the Navy with an honorable discharge. Bruce loved his country and enjoyed American history. He was a member of the Civil War Round Table and in their travels visited most of the Civil War battlefields and other monuments in our country. Survivors: Wife, Louise; daughter, Karen Allen and fiance, Stojan Trickovic; son, Bruce Ray McLaughlin and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Kristi Shaw, Scott Hinchey, Eric McLaughlin, Traci Ware and C.J. McLaughlin; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Opal Caldwell; nephew, Jerry Day; nieces, Brenda Rolfe and Dee Ann Probst; and special cousin, Bobbiette Rye. Published in the Star-Telegram on 9/20/2005.
