After battling an illness for the last 2 1/2 years and with her children by her side, she peacefully left us to be with her Lord in Heaven. She moved to Bakersfield. CA in 1943 and attended Kern High School (BHS). She graduated from Bakersfield College in 1967 with a degree in Nursing and worked for Bakersfield Memorial Hospital for approximately 25 years. She was a strong, caring, and active person and will be greatly missed. After she retired she enjoyed golfing and traveling until she became ill. Her other interests were music and reading. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry & Clairaine Norton. Sisters: Lois Weaver, Evelyn Provence, and Cleava Palmer. Brothers: Harland & Granvel Norton. Great Granddaughter: Brittney Vinsant (Hacker). She is survived by her Children: Virginia Arenas, Marilyn Hacker, James Craig Edwards, and Paula Edwards. Son in Laws: Paul Arenas & Steve Hacker. Daughter in Law: Christine Edwards. Brothers: Raymond and Merle Norton. Sister: Vestle Gibert. Sister in Law: Betty Norton. Grandchildren: Eric Harless & wife Mindy, Ryan Harless & wife Melissa, Theresa Priest & husband .Jeff, Lindsay Hacker, and Rachel & Stephanie Edwards. Great Grandchildren: Bretta, Emily, Sophia, Zaina, & Sarah Harless, Shelbie & Jordan Bynum. Kayla Vinsant & Khloe Mahler-Hacker, Numerous Nieces & Nephews. A special Thank you to the staff of Mercy Hospital ER & 2nd West, Optimal Hospice, and Californian Care for their care & compassion in her final days. Visitation & Viewing to be held on Monday 4-17-06 at 4-8 pm at Hillcrest Mortuary. Graveside services on Tuesday 4-18-06 at 10:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park Valley View.
