Neff Archie C. Neff PORTALES, N.M. - Archie C. Neff, 85, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Chapel with the Rev. Troy Neff officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. (CST) in McAdoo Cemetery in McAdoo. Mr. Neff was born in Callahan County, Texas, near Cross Plains. He attended school in McAdoo. He first moved to the Forrest area north of Clovis in 1944. He moved back and forth between there and Floyd County, Texas, several times before settling in the Portales area in 1980. He was active in the Portales Senior Citizens. He was a former member of Assembly of God Church in Floydada. Mr. Neff married Trudie Williams in 1934 at Childress. He married Dovie Paty in 1961. She died in 1991. He married Lillie Harrell in 1995. He also was preceded in death by two sons, "Little Archie" Neff and Randy Neff. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Troy Neff of Memphis, Tenn., Billie Harrell of Ardmore, Okla., Basil Paty, Tommy Paty and Harry Paty, all of California, and Gary Pate of Floydada, Texas; six daughters, Virginia Cross of San Antonio, Texas, Trudie St. Clair of Portales, Billie Hickman of Crosbyton, Texas, Betty Harrell of Ralls, Texas, Lola Simpson of Kilgore, Texas, and Donna Seigler of Mineral Wells, Texas; two brothers, Nobel Neff of Weatherford, Texas, and Dale Neff of McAdoo; four sisters, Rena Lambert of Crosbyton, Texas, Lena Stock of Phoenix, Wilma Mulvihill of Portales and Joyce Davis of Hereford, Texas; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
