Pittman, 74, were held at 11 a.m., May 16, 1999, at Craddock Funeral Home in Ardmore, Carter Co., OK, with Rev. Paul Dowdy officiating. Interment was in McMillan Cemetery. Mr. Pittman was born March 4, 1925, at Pontotoc to George Thomas (Sr) and Nona Ann Armstrong Pittman. He died May 13, 1999, in the Madill OK Hospital. He married Tommie Etta Pickens Marris Sept 28, 1946, at Olathe, Kan. She preceded him in death July 1997. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Pittman, George T. Pittman Jr., and Robert F. Pittman, and one sister, Nola Pittman Little, and by a granddaughter, Stacy VanAucker. A life-long resident of the area, Pittman was a truck driver most of his life. He worked for many years for Groendyke Trucking and then part-time for Clowe Oil. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Army. Pittman was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Pittman Garrison, Dickson OK, and Patricia Marris Peters, Honolulu, Hawaii; three sisters, Emma Pittman Petak, Mattie Huffman Wallace Patrick, and Jimmie Pittman Vaile, all of Ardmore OK; and one brother, Eddie H. Pittman, also of Ardmore; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bearers were Albert Vinson, Jerry W. Pittman, Roger Wilkins, Dale Wilkins, Troy Wilkins and Robert Burns.
