Funeral services for David C. Steed, 74, will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church, Ardmore, OK conducted by Rev. Rick Mills. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Son of the late John T. and Madaline Colbert Steed, David was born Jan 1, 1929 in Ardmore. A 1946 graduate of Ardmore High School, he received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Arizona in 1950 and did graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma. A Certified Public Accountant and philanthropist, he joined his fathers accounting firm in 1955, which had been established in 1922. He was associated with it until his death, Feb 4, 2003. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma and Southern Oklahoma Societies of Certified Public Accountants and The American Institute of Accountants, he was a fifty year plus member of the Rotary Club and was 'A Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation'. He was also a Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, John T. Steed, Jr., grandparents Dr. and Mrs. P. M. Steed, Deming, NM and Walter and Henrietta Colbert, pioneer residents of Indian Territory. Survivors include cousins Linda Colbert West, Metairie, LA, Henrietta Colbert Goodwin, Norman, OK, Arlene Colbert, Dallas, TX, Walter J. Colbert, Richardson, TX, Elva Colbert Roten, San Antonio, TX, Gloria Steed Davis, Shawnee Mission, KS, Yeola Steed Mitchell, San Antonio, TX, Frank P. Steed, Jr. Houston, TX and June Kelly, Oklahoma City, OK. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund or charity of choice.
