E.D. Throckmorton The Rev. E.D. Throckmorton PLAINVIEW - The Rev. E.D. Throckmorton, 82, died Friday, July 19, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. John Norvell, World Missions Director of the Pentecostal Church of God in Joplin, Mo., and the Rev. Randy Santiago, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home. The Rev. Throckmorton was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Jacksboro. He married Bonnie Anderson on May 17, 1937, in Lubbock. He had been a minister for 59 years, licensed with the Pentecostal Church of God for that length of time. He pastored churches in Roswell, N.M., Woodsboro, Dumas, Plainview and Lubbock. He served as district superintendent for the Pentecostal Church of God organization, North Texas District. He also was the Presbytor for the Southwest Texas District. He received his doctorate degree in San Marcos. He had lived in Plainview since 1994 where he attended First Assembly of God Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Pallbearers will be his seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lue Throckmorton; three brothers, Leo, Otis and J.T. Throckmorton; and four sisters, Florence Swinney, Minnie Grace Williams, Carrie Hodges and Ruth Throckmorton. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joyce Howard and husband, Ferral, of Ardmore, Okla., and Gwen Thrasher and husband, Albert, of Plainview; a son, Kenneth Throckmorton and wife, Naomi, of Marlow, Okla.; a brother, Edward C. Throckmorton of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren, Mike and Keith Howard of Ardmore, Shannon and Tory Thrasher of Plainview, Dusty Throckmorton of Westville, Okla., Brad Throckmorton of Tulsa, Okla., and Brandie Plummer of Pope, Miss.; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to First Assembly of God, 1300 N. Interstate 27, Plainview, TX 79072.
