Woods, Jr., 85, of Muskogee, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1920 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Morton C. Woods, Sr. and Doris (Probst) Woods. Morton was raised in Ardmore. He graduated from Oklahoma A & M (OSU). Mort was married to Anna Jean Chastain Woods until she predeceased him in 1984. From 1951  1985, Mort was associated with Commercial National Bank (later Commercial Bank and Trust Co.) and retired as Exec. Vice President in 1985. For many years of his extensive banking career Mort served on the Board of Directors for Commercial Bank and its parent company, Landmark Corp. On February 27, 1990 Mort married Eula Faye Mullins Wilson in Muskogee. Morton had been a member and active leader of Grace Episcopal Church since 1969. He was civicly in the community in many ways, including a founder of the Breakfast Optimist Club, as volunteer, former Director of the National Boy Scouts of America, was founder of Muskogee Rod & Gun Club, the American Red Cross Board among many other activities. He was also very influential in bringing economy to Muskogee as a member Muskogee Industrial Trust Authority and Muskogee Port Commission. He was a longtime member of Muskogee Country Club, a course designed by his uncle Perry Maxwell. Mort was an active sportsman throughout his life, enjoying hunting, fishing, wildlife conservation, golf and other outdoor activities. He is survived by his wife, Eula Faye of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl M. and Dallas Woods of Muskogee, Robert H. and Laura Walker Woods of Henderson NV and Stuart H. and Toy Woods of Muskogee; and by grandchildren, JoAnna and London Wren Woods, Maureen Arnold, Brandy Crosley, Crystal Moses, Jennifer Swearingen and Joshua M. Woods all of Muskogee, Robert H. Woods of Norman, Kate Woods and Jessica Woods both of Ann Arbor, MI, Colleen Woods of New York City and Rebecca Walker of Chapel Hill, NC and by ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mort Woods: beloved father, husband, banker, civic leader, sportsman, and armchair philosopher and humorist. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Church in Muskogee.
