Notes for Samuel (Sar-Me Ge-Stoo) MANUS: Sam is listed on 1880 Census as married to Betsy, with Nancy Mainous (sic) and Asbury Mainous living with them. This could be a daughter, Nancy, or his mother, Nancy, and a son, Asbury, or his father, Asbury. Can't read the dates, but it notes that Asbury as "dead." The 1900 Cherokee Roll, Field No. 6333, has him living with Mary and their daughter, Maggie, and her two children, Jeannie and Burt Hampton, whose father is William Hampton, a non-citizen.
