Today is just three years since I left Choteau Station for this country and you see I am still here. I am well and have been all the while, have not taken a dose of medicine of any kind for almost three years and have not been sick a day; here lately; we are having nice working weather now, had one little rain a few days ago, the first one since last May. Politics are getting up to its highest pitch now as the elections are near at hand. Candidates are awful friendly now and spend their money freely. Uncle Ned B will not run for any office this time says he wants a rest. I wish I could be with you all during the Council but its too far for a poor man like myself to visit. When I come I expect to come to stay but can't say just when that will be. But will try to be there before the first Monday in August to cast a vote for somebody. The rest of the Cherokee boys out here are all well and doing well. I see them now and then. Excuse pencil writing; I was in a hurry and cannot find a pen. I see that Hooly Bell had the best wine at the Vinita Fair and got the blue ribbon; hurrah for Hooly. Save some till I come home I want to see if its anything like the California wine. I must close, love to all. Jesse B Mayes.
