The Highway Patrol said Edgar Scott, 30, apparently died of a shotgun wound in the chest. Cherokee County deputies went to the home after police in Pryor and Tahlequah received telephone calls saying there had been a shooting. The OHP said officers were told that a man who shot Scott left the scene in a van. The van was later spotted at a residence near the Cherokee-Mayes County line. Cherokee County officers and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents converged on the scene and arrested a man identified as Joe Robert Spencer, 28, of Tahlequah, the OHP said. Spencer reportedly offered no resistance to the arrest. He was being held Sunday in the Cherokee County Jail here pending charges, the patrol reported.
